Pizza Milano

Ingredients

Pizza crust

  • 3/4 cup warm water
  • teaspoon active dry yeast
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 11/2 tablespoons olive oil

Toppings

  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup shredded provolone cheese
  • 1 table spoon of grated parmesan cheese
  • 2 cups of pizza sauce or spaghetti sauce works too

Cooked toppings

  • 2 tablespoons of capers
  • 8 ounces of artichoke hearts coarsely chopped
  • 4 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 bell pepper thinly sliced
  • 1 large shallot chopped

 

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 450 degrees with a pizza stone or baking sheet
  2.  Pour the warm water in a large bowl. Add the yeast and let it sit 5 minutes
  3.  Add the flour, sugar, salt, and olive oil. Stir to combine
  4.  Flour a clean work surface and dump the dough onto it. Knead the dough for 4 minutes
  5.  Place the dough back in the bowl and cover it with towel. Put the bowl on top of the stove and let it sit for 5 minutes.
  6. While you wait for the dough, in a large skillet over medium high heat sautéed cooked toppings for 5 minutes
  7. Divide the dough in half and stretch it carefully into a circle.
  8. Place your dough on preheated pizza stone or cookie sheet
  9. Spread sauce on both pizzas
  10. Mix and spread cheeses evening
  11. Add cooked toppings
  12. place it right in the oven (middle rack) and bake for 10-12 minutes.
