Lynn’s Italian Creation

Ingredients

Homemade pizza crust:

  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1 tbsp active dry yeast
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 cups flour to start
  • 1 tsp sea salt

Homemade pizza sauce

  • 6 oz tomato paste
  • 15 oz tomato sauce
  • 2 tbsp dried oregano
  • 2 tbsp Italian seasoning
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp honey
  • ***secret ingredient *** (little bit of bakers chocolate)

Toppings

  • Fried Ravioli
  • Sautéed mushrooms in truffle oil
  • Homemade Meatballs
  • Pepperoni

Instructions

Homemade crust:

  1. Mix together water, sugar, and yeast and let sit until becomes foamy and bubbly, about 5 minutes.
  2. Once yeast is proofed, add olive oil and stir to combine.
  3. Then add 2 cups of flour and salt and stir to combine.
  4. The dough will start to form a sticky ball, add more flour as needed.
  5. Once the dough is slightly sticky transfer it to a floured surface
  6. Knead for about 3 -5 minutes, or until a smooth ball forms.
  7. If necessary, add 1 tbsp more flour at a time until its smooth and not sticky.
  8. Put dough in bowl and cover.
  9. Let rise for 10-30 minutes (what your time allows for).
  10. Roll out into desired shape until about 1/2 inch thick.

 

Homemade sauce:

  1. Mix all sauce ingredients together, no heat required. Done in 5 minutes.

 

Pizza:

  1. Pre-heat pizza stone in 500° oven for 10 minutes
  2. Add sauce and toppings to rolled out pizza dough
  3. Put a little bit of cheese on between sauce and toppings, to keep toppings in place when cutting and serving.
  4. Bake at 400° for about 12 minutes
